CHILI SHACK OPENS FIRST UNIT IN DOWNTOWN K.C.

NEW RESTAURANT COMPANY LOOKS TO RECRUIT OWNER OPERATORS FOR EXPANSION THROUGHT THE METROPOLITAN AREA


KANSAS CITY, MO (FEB. 21, 2005) —  A BOWL OF HEARTY CHILI, A  FANTASTIC CHILI  DOG, A JIM’S HOT TAMALE SPREAD, AND AN ITALIAN BEEF  SANDWICH THE RIVALS AND  MAYBE SURPASSES THE TASTE OF THE LEGENDENARY  BEEF STANDS IN CHICAGO. THAT AND  MUCH MORE IS WHAT YOUR OFFERED AT THE  CHILI SHACK, A NEW QUICK SERVE  RESTAURANT LOCATED @ 1128 OAK  ST. (ACROSS THE STREET FROM CITY HALL) IN  DOWNTOWN KANSAS  CITY.

THE CHILI SHACK WAS DEVELOPED BY  JOHN DAVID DICAPO OF  DICAPO FOODS TO SHOWCASE MANY OF THE FOOD ITEMS  DICAPO FOODS PRODUCES @ THEIR  MANUFACTURING  FACILITY.

WE’VE BEEN EATING TAMALE SPREADS  (TAMALES TOPPED WITH  CHILI) AND ITALIAN BEEFS FOR YEARS AND LOVING  THEM.  WE TRIED TO GET MANY  OF THE LOCAL RESTAURANTS TO PUT THESE  ITEMS ON THEIR MENUS AND THEY JUST  DIDN’T GET IT. THEY SAID IF THESE  ITEMS ARE SO GOOD AND YOU THINK THEY WILL  SELL WHY DON’T YOU OPEN YOUR  OWN RESTAURANT.
SO WE  DID.

CHILI PARLORS HAVE BEEN POPULAR IN KANSAS  CITY  FOR MANY YEARS.THE CHILI SHACK IS SET UP CAFETERIA STYLE WHERE  CUSTOMERS  COME TO THE COUNTER TO ORDER, WATCH THEIR FOOD BE PLATED AND  ARE ALLOWED TO  SELECT MANY FREE TOPPINGS FROM SPICY MUSTARD TO  JALAPENO  PEPPERS.

THE CHILI SHACK IS BEING OFFERED TO FOLKS   WHO ARE INTERESTED IN OWNING AND OPERATING THEIR OWN UNIQUE  RESTAURANT. “WE  HAVE SEEN MANY POTENTIAL CHAINS COME AND GO BECAUSE  THE FRANCHISOR SELLS THE  RIGHTS TO NON WORKING INVESTORS  WHO  FEEL THEY CAN HIRE MANAGERS AND THEY  WILL BE SUCCESSFUL” STATES  DICAPO. WE DON’T SEE THAT  WORKING.

WE EXPECT THE KANSAS CITY METRO AREA CAN   SUPPORT UPWARDS TO 10 CHILI SHACKS AND WE ARE PROPOSING TO HAVE  MANY OF THOSE  IN PLACE IN THE NEXT TWO YEARS.

THE CHILI SHACK IS ALSO LOOKING TOWARD  AIRPORT  LOCATIONS  AND CO-BRANDING WITH CONVENIENCE STORES AND  TRUCK STOPS. LET’S  ASK THE TRUCKER WHAT WOULD THEY PREFER? A SUBWAY  HAM SANDWICH OR A PLATE OF  TAMALES TOPPED WITH STEAMING CHILI, CHEESE,  ONIONS AND  JALAPENOS.

WITH VIRTUALLY NO FOOD PREPARATION NEEDED  WE  SEE A LOT OF OPPORTUNITIES.

THE CHILI SHACK HAS ONLY BEEN OPEN FOR A  SHORT TIME  BUT ALREADY MANY OF THE CUSTOMERS ARE REGULARS. THIS MAKES  DICAPO SMILE. WE  NEW IF WE OFFERED GREAT FOOD AND A RESONABLE PRICE  THEY WOULD COME AND COME  BACK AGAIN.
